On the Road to…

Dubuque by way of Iowa City!  Ron had a meeting in Cedar Rapids on Friday.  I can’t let him get THAT close to my boys in Iowa City without going with him to get a visit in!  So Ron and Ethan and I left immediately after school on Friday.  We dropped Ron off at the Iowa District East office and then Ethan and I went on to meet Caleb and Cameron at Coral Ridge Mall for supper.  As always, our time together was short, but we had a great supper at the food court (Ethan had Subway, Caleb and Cameron had Taco Bell, and I had a yummy Chick-fil-a! )

I’m sorry, Ethan.  I don’t know what happened, but honestly…this is the BEST of the 3 pictures I took of you tonight!

We heard all kinds of stories including new video games, guitars, new jobs, homework, tests and church stuff, friends, studies and fun.  We laughed a lot, and shopped and just had a great time visiting with each other!

Since Rachel had State Speech in Dubuque on Saturday, we did the math and figured we would save a minimum of a tank of gas and a few hours on the road if we stayed in a cheap Iowa City hotel on Friday night rather than drive from home to Iowa City and home then Dubuque and then home.  So that’s what we did.

It was a long, LONG day on Saturday in Dubuque. Rachel had to leave home at 5:30 AM.  She performed her 2 person ensemble at 8:45, and her mime group performed at 4.  We saw some wonderful talent, and we are really proud of Rachel and the work she put into speech this year!  The day went very well (in spite of the fact that, somehow, Rachel’s black pants (that she WORE there that morning) came up missing and they were the pants she needed for her MIME performance so we had to run to Walmart and SCORED $3 black sweatpants!…whew!)

We left the school at around 4:45 and had supper at Olive Garden (oooooh…yummy!) and then had to get groceries for the Super Bowl party.  We got home at 9 and made snacks for the Super bowl party, before hitting the sack…exhausted!
