Random January Pictures

Here are just a few pictures that scream “WINTER IN IOWA” to me.  Is it spring yet??

This is about the only thing that I will tolerate anyone saying is “pretty” in winter.  Tis was taken on a REALLY foggy day…the fog settled onto the trees as a thick frost.  I’ll admit it was KIND of pretty…but it still screams “WINTER” to me and that is not pleasant.

and this picture doesn’t scream anything to me…in fact…*I* was screaming at the kid to hide before the car down the street came by and saw him looking like an idiot.  Sigh…it is probably good that I don’t know what he’s doing off at college, huh?

I miss you, Caleb!

Ron and Ethan have been busy keeping this little bowl filled with bird seed.  They fill it, birds eat a little and then it snows or ices and they have to fill it again.  It’s fun to watch.

High School 2A Jazz Band Festival

Saturday morning found most of us up and moving before we REALLY wanted to, for a trip to our high school for State Jazz Band festival.  Our kids performed at 9:20.  They were GREAT!  They have missed SO many practices due to bad weather…so for the amount of time they had to practice, I was quite impressed!

Rachel, Katelyn, Cameron and Karly…the back row kept things together!  :-)

Rachel and Katelyn play their improv duet…may were they GOOD!!!

Cameron and one of his solos.  You rock, Cameron!

Cameron’s solo…he only practiced a couple of days due to his early morning class…but he did AWESOME!

Cameron and one of his best friends, Justin.  Oh, the things those two think of…in fact…right now…I think they are thinking…”OK, when we are done here, let’s go to Justin’s house and make mashed potatoes with chocolate milk!”  ‘cause that is what they did later that day. They made instant potatoes, and used chocolate milk instead of the milk AND the water!!   Ewwwwwwwwww!!!!

Julie and I don’t even ASK them what they are doing any more!

Thanks for playing in the band, guys.  We really enjoyed hearing you play!

5th Grade Talent Show

So Ethan’s fifth grade class put together a great talent show on Friday.  There were some cute dances, skits and instrumental performances.  Ethan had a trumpet duet with his friend Uriah.  They played “Go Tell Bill, Bingo, Ode To Joy” as a medly where they composed the transitions between songs!  Pretty impressive.
